Which format should I choose?: JPG for photographs (small, universal), PNG for screenshots, logos and anything needing transparency, WebP when you want the smallest files for the web with good quality.
Does converting lose quality?: PNG output is lossless. JPG and WebP re-encode at quality 90, which is visually indistinguishable for photos; converting back and forth repeatedly does accumulate loss, so keep your originals.
What happens to transparency when converting to JPG?: JPG has no alpha channel, so transparent areas are flattened onto a white background. Choose PNG or WebP to keep transparency.
